The Sirena Pistolera comes ready to rumble with a wide arsenal of killer bass tones. Loaded with 3 split-coil AlNiCo 5 humbuckers, and a versatile 6-position switch, the Pistolera can move from deep dub to meaty rock to slap-happy funk without breaking a sweat.
The Pistolera pickup is inspired by the snarly tones of classic department store gems such as Kay and Teisco basses. The split coil humbucking design has the added benefits of modern pickup construction, noiseless operation, and an extended palette of tonal possibilities.
The Pistolera features beautiful custom hardware unique to Sirena instruments. The bridge, jack plate and other aluminum parts are hand-made and brush finished and bring the level of detail into another category altogether.
Black walnut is a classic American hardwood that brings an elegant touch to the Sirena Pistolera. Like all Sirena necks, the Pistolera has a laminated 3-piece neck that is hand-carved with a compound radius.
The Pistolera body is extensively chambered for weight savings and tonal characteristics. I like my basses to be lightweight and easy to handle. While the changes to tone has been hotly debated ad nauseam, the weakening of the body structure has a warming affect of the tonal characteristics of the instrument.
Hidden behind every Sirena fretboard is another Bruce Johnson innovation; BruceBars. BruceBars are heavy-duty neck bolt anchors that create a super-strong neck to body joint. Unlike the threaded inserts found on many other boutique instruments, BruceBars are reliable and easy to repair.
